Is There a Link Between Family and Weight Loss?
February 5, 2008 by admin
My wifes birthday was yesterday and we had a wonderful time. Just her and our daughter Hailey and of course our two dogs.
I got her favorite which is ice cream cake and I made Italian Beef Sandwiches for dinner another favorite of hers.
We had a great time together and I realized that I have a great support structure regardless of what I may need support for.
My wife also has a support structure when it comes to exercising and getting in shape.
It isn't easy to be married to a Dietitian who is in shape all the time. Not too mention trying to find time to exercise while raising a 10 month girl who never sits still.
Though with Hailey and I being her support system we went to the basement on Sunday morning with her while she walked on the treadmill and did some strength training.
It provided her with support and most importantly Hailey and I made sure we had her laughing so that she had fun. Her 30 minutes of exercise flew by and she got in a great workout.
Do you have a support system?
Why not?
Maybe I will get my wife Liane to write you an email someday telling you how important her support structure is. In the meantime look around you to see who could be your support structure.
It may not always be family. It could be a co-worker, friend, neighbor.
Whoever it is let them help you and support you with trying to lose weight. It can make the difference between successful weight loss or failing and going back to your old ways.
I have another thing I want to share with you. I was sent this video a while ago and I keep it saved on my desktop and watch it every time I need a little pick me up. I just feel happy after watching it and it makes whatever frustrations I am having go away.
Maybe someone you know needs you to be their support structure.
Watch the video and hopefully you get the same warm happy feeling I do after watching it.

It's about time insurance companies started pushing for this! I've been saying for five years now that they should.
However, I don't agree with the BMI as a measurement tool- why not waist circumference or skin folds?
I agree with regarding the BMI measurement tool. I don't think it applies to those that are actually in shape and don't have that much fat to lose.
Though for those that are obese are very overweight it is a quick easy tool to use to help classify risk factors.
