4 Nutrient Timing Tips To Lose Weight Fast part 2

Jayson:    Well, to further stimulate your metabolism, another quick easy tip you can do is eat smaller portions every 2-3 hours during your waking hours.  So that usually equates to about 5-6 meals a day and it’s not that you’re eating more quantity it’s just you’re eating more frequently of the same quantity.  And again by doing that, you’re stimulating that metabolism, because remember every time you eat, your body has to burn calories to actually digest that food.  So, if we increase the frequency but keep the calorie intake the same, we’re going to burn more overall calories for the day by the frequency that we eat.

Jim:    Okay.  So, for everybody listening we’re not talking about full 3-course, 4-course meals.  We’re talking about eating 5-6 meals a day.  We’re talking about smaller portion meals, almost like snacks.  Right?

Jayson:    At least, probably 3 of your meals are going to be snack-type meals. 

Jim:    So we’re not expecting you to create fancy meat and potatoes dinners with the vegetables on the side and bread and wine and we’re not talking anything fancy.

Jayson:    Smaller portions just more frequently.  At the end of the day you’re still going to consume the same amount of calories you consumed before, you’re just breaking it up into smaller meals and more frequently.

Jayson:    Well, there’s people that group carbs into just here’s carbs, and then there’s fast digestion carbs, and slower digestion carbs or healthier carbs.  Really, you want to limit your intake of those faster digesting carbs or those processed carbs, refined flour type carbs.  You want to limit those types of carbohydrates to breakfast and immediately after you exercise because you’re body’s best at replacing the glycogen levels that you’ve depleted after breakfast and after exercise, because if you haven’t eaten since, say 7:00PM the night before, your carbohydrate storages levels are going to be depleted come morning so it’s a great time to refuel them.  Then the same with exercise, you deplete them during exercise so you want to try to replace those as soon as possible.  Other than that, those are the two times when you want to be able to eat more of the higher sugar type carbs, I guess is how you could word it.  Then as far as other carbs that have a lot of fiber and whole grain and things of that nature, you still want to control that intake but you can sprinkle those in throughout the day along with the lean protein at every meal and things of that nature, and you know, those types of carbs are like whole grain breads, whole grain rice, vegetables – lots of vegetables with skins on it, things of that nature.
