Say goodbye to stubborn fat and belly flab (not your family)

June 26, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

First, I just wanted to thank all of you who emailed me yesterday.

I got a ton of great ideas about what it is you want more of.

AND it was great to see your concern for me and my family. It means the world to me!

Next, I wanted to share this problem a reader is having and how she can solve it:

"Jayson,

Your emails are awesome and inspiring! I would love to start your program but I am a little weary about following an eating program.   I don't know how my family will adjust.

Exercise is NOT the problem. I love to work hard and challenge myself. It's just changing our eating habits for the family, not that we eat bad food, but we don't always eat the most healthiest foods either."

Yours Truly,

Stephanie

JH: Glad the newsletters are inspiring you! Thanks so much for reading them.

As for your family adjusting, I totally understand. Many of my private clients have often wondered how they would make these changes when they have a family.

They don't have to follow the Carb Rotation formula for Rapid Fat Loss.  They may not need to lose stubborn fat or belly flab.

But you could easily implement the easy meal suggestions and nutrition guidelines into their meals to get them eating healthier more consistently.

You see, rotating your carbs WILL supercharge your weight loss and shed the stubborn fat and belly flab. And not everyone needs that.

But as you can see from the testimonial below my signature, you CAN use my easy-to-follow suggestions to change the way your entire family views super nutritious foods.

And remember, my Dress Size Reduction Diet Program program is guaranteed for a full 8 weeks.

I know you (and your family) can do it!

Yours in health,

Jayson Hunter, RD, CSCS

PS - Here's that story I was telling you about. Yup, the Dress Size Reduction Diet Program is so easy a grandma can do it. And, boy, is she ever!

"I have lost 14 inches and 21 lbs. overall and two complete dress sizes!!!

I am not so winded after climbing stairs, I sleep better at night, my old age aches and pains are not so noticable to me, and I smile much more often now. I wish I had met you years ago. Yours is the only diet program I have ever read that included food that I actually like. Which is why I tried yours in the first place. Other diets are basically the same; cardboard for breakfast, plastic for lunch and a few shrubs and weeds for dinner (only kidding). But yours included foods I like to eat and if I want to eat the same breakfast every day for a week, I do, but you give me more choices and I am not limited to fish and vegetables that I don't like.

I am a 61 year old great grandmother who has 5 daughters and 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and my only motivation was to get out of bed and go back to bed every day until I was introduced to you. You have become family to myself and my family.

We are now more connected to being healthy with each other thanks to you

Thanks so much for your encouragement, your interest in helping us, and your concern about how we are doing. I never expected that. I am very pleased I started all of this with you and I am talking others into joining as well.

God Bless you, Jayson, for your caring and concern."

Do You Overeat? (Part 2)

May 2, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

One of the key ways to maintain a healthy weight is to control your portion sizes. Research has shown that Americans often underestimate how many calories they are consuming each day by as much as 25%.

It’s not enough to eat the right kinds of food to maintain a healthy weight. Eating the right amount of food at each meal is just as important. A portion size is a specific amount of food, and it might be smaller than you realize.

How to Estimate Portion Sizes:

Estimating portion sizes is rather easy once you learn what a proper portion size looks like.  Read below to see visual example of what a proper portion size should look like.

Do you have an idea what 1 ounce looks like?  How about what a “serving” of fish or chicken is?  Here are some simple tools to assess portion sizes without carrying a food scale around on a daily basis.

  • Meat, poultry, or fish such as tuna or salmon steaks (3 oz) is the size of a deck of cards
  • Thin white fish, such as flounder or sole (3 oz) is approximately the size of a checkbook
  • Cold cereal, berries, popcorn (1 cup) is  approximately the size of a baseball
  • Butter or margarine (1 tsp) is approximately the size of a postage stamp
  • Bread (1 ounce) is approximately the size of a CD case
  • Hard cheese (1 ounce) is approximately  the size of 4 dice
  • Mixed nuts, dried fruit, granola, almonds,  walnuts, peanuts (1/4 cup)

Knowing what equals a portion size is only one step–if you are eating 5 portions of bread when you should only be eating 3, for example, then you won’t see any body composition changes.

This is why learning behavior modification through goal setting and planning is essential to long term nutritional changes.

The Dress Size Reduction Diet program teaches you how to properly control your portions so that you can see fast easy weight loss.

Dress Size Reduction Diet

"I just want to say Thank You for the Dress Size Reduction Diet - it is exactly what I needed! The carb reduction days are easy and I feel like I am full and really satisfied all the time.Right now I am on day 9 and I feel soooo much better already. My belly flab is melting and I feel 'smoother'. I have already noticed my clothes feeling looser, I am easily pulling my size 8's on and can tell I will be slipping back into those 6's very soon. I can't wait to see what the entire 30 days will let me accomplish! I also want to add that I chose to upgrade to the package that included the 30 Day Meal Plan….what a Perfect Plan! It doesn't get any simpler than that!

Thanks again - this is a great plan….worth every penny!!"

Do You Overeat?

May 1, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

This is part 1 of a 2 part series.

What happened to our parents putting the proper portions on our plates and telling us to finish everything on our plate?

This practice was fine when the dinner plates were smaller and the entire surface wasn’t covered with food.  Now dinner plates seem to be 1.5 times larger and we fill the entire plate with food rather than have our distinct portions.

The second problem America faces is the challenge of changing our eating habits for the better.  We tend to diet and restrict calories to lose the weight, but really don’t learn how to eat properly.

When we stop dieting we revert back to our same bad habits.  This is where behavior modifications and following proper portion control becomes vital.

Behavior modification is the practice of changing ones habits permanently.  It isn’t a quick fix but rather a series of changes that take place regularly to form a habit.

Just like we develop bad habits by consistently doing something we shouldn’t, good habits are formed the same way.

The best way to learn behavior modification is to make small changes in increments and then build on those changes by adding others.  You should meet each goal before moving on to the next goal.

You may also have to come up with different ways or ideas to meet that goal.  Each person responds differently and learns differently so take the time to sit down and find out what you do well and what you do poorly.

I use a behavior modification goal sheet in my counseling.  I make my clients sign these behavior contracts at the end of every session.  The contract contains the goals you are going to working on for the next week.

In part 2 I will discuss just what portion control is and how you can follow it.

Health Benefits of Breakfast

April 30, 2008 by admin · 1 Comment

Research has found that people who ate breakfast every day were a third less likely to be obese compared to those who skipped the meal.

In addition, the subjects were half as likely to have blood-sugar problems, which increase the risk of developing diabetes or having high cholesterol, which is a known risk factor for heart disease.

"Breakfast may really be the most important meal of the day" Dr Mark Pereira

Researchers believe that eating first thing in the morning may help to stabilize blood sugar levels, which regulate appetite and energy.

They suggest people who eat breakfast are less likely to be hungry during the rest of the day and are, therefore, less likely to overeat.

"Our results suggest that breakfast may really be the most important meal of the day," said Dr Periera.

"It appears that breakfast may play an important role in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease."

The researchers have recently started to examine what those involved in the study ate for breakfast, to see if certain foods were more likely to help them stay healthy.

Initial results have suggested that whole-grain cereals may be of benefit.

They found that people who ate these were 15% less likely to have blood sugar problems but Dr Pereira said: "We need to do more research."

"People skip breakfast thinking they're cutting calories, but by mid-morning and lunch, that person is starved," says Milton Stokes, RD, MPH, chief dietitian for St. Barnabas Hospital in New York City. "Breakfast skippers replace calories during the day with mindless nibbling, bingeing at lunch and dinner. They set themselves up for failure."

So what is the moral of the story for today?

Eat your breakfast.  This could be whole grains, hard boiled egg, whole grain cereals, cottage cheese, yogurt. peanut butter, fruits and vegetables.

Or if you just don't have time to eat anything then I recommend http://professionalgradenutrition.com/lean.

Lean gives you all the nutrients you need in a filling healthy drink.  At 8gms of fiber and 35gms of protein per serving you won't feel hungry in 30 minutes like most meal replacement shakes since both nutrients provide great hunger control.

Are You Sleep Deprived and Overweight?

April 9, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

If you are then we may know the answer as to why you are overweight.

Studies have shown that sleep can impact your appetite hormones, which may may explain why those that are sleep deprived may be more overweight than those who get plenty of sleep.

Sleep deprived adults tend to produce more ghrelin, which is a hormone that promotes hunger.

Sleep deprived adults also tend to produce less leptin, which is a hormone that tells your body it is full.

If you are someone that is overweight and you lack enough sleep then it might be time to focus on something other then nutrition and exercise.

Now I am not saying you should abandon nutrition and exercise.

You should continue to eat right and exercise, but increase your focus on getting to bed earlier so that you can get plenty of sleep.

Most individuals still require 7-8 hours of restful sleep a night.

Increase your sleep and see if you aren't one that is sabotaging your weight loss because of lack of sleep.

It might just be the change you need to finally shed those unwanted pounds.

How To Banish PMS Symptoms

April 5, 2008 by admin · 2 Comments

Todays post is brought to you today by Mike Geary of http://truthaboutabsecrets.com.

I recently saw a study that showed a proven method of significantly reducing the physical and emotional symptoms associated with Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).

A double-blind, randomized clinical trial reported in the Journal of Alternative Medicine Review compared the effects of standard omega-3 fish oil vs. Neptune Krill Oil on the symptoms of PMS.

The study evaluated many variables of PMS in the study participants such as:

1. feeling suddenly sad, tearful, irritable, or angry

2. persistent and marked irritability or anger

3. marked anxiety, tension, or feelings of being "keyed up", or "on edge"

4. decreased interest in usual activities, e.g., work, friends, hobbies, etc.

5. getting easily fatigued or marked lack of energy

6. subjective sense of difficulty concentrating

7. marked change in appetite, overeating, or specific food cravings

8. hypersomnia or insomnia

9. other physical symptoms, such as breast tenderness or swelling, headaches, joint or muscle pain, sensation of bloating, or weight gain.

The outcome of the study concluded that Neptune Krill Oil can significantly reduce both the emotional and physical symptoms related to PMS, and is significantly more effective for management of dysmenorrhea and emotional PMS symptoms compared to standard omega-3 fish oil.

It was found that Neptune Krill Oil has a unique biomolecular profile of phospholipids, omega-3 fatty acids, and diverse antioxidants that surpasses the usual fish oil profile.

So the bottom line is that if you want to feel better and reduce your PMS symptoms, a useful solution may be to try taking Neptune Krill Oil instead of standard fish oil found at stores.

The highest quality Neptune Krill Oil I've found is only available online (the EFA Icon) at…

 http://professionalgradenutrition.com/icon

In addition to those benefits, studies have shown that Neptune Krill Oil has over 47 times the antioxidant power of fish oil! And genuine Neptune Krill Oil also contains over 300 times the antioxidant power of Vitamin A & E!

*Warning: If you are allergic to shellfish, have a blood coagulation disorder, or are taking anticoagulants such as Warfarin (Coumadin), consult a health care professional prior to use.

You can get your own Neptune Krill Oil here…

Bathing Suit Season Strategy #5

March 9, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Whether you're following the Dress Size Reduction Diet or some other rock-solid plan guaranteed to help you look better naked you need to be VERY aware of Bathing Suit Season Strategy #5.

PROTECT your mind.

As we've already talked about, there are plenty of unscrupulous food companies and marketers promoting miracle solutions, magic pills and potions just waiting to get a hold of you. Yes, they are, in fact, out to get you. Well, not you, but your hard-earned cashola. They know most people are easy prey. They know you'd much rather be sold a dream than the truth. They know if they reach when you're vulnerable they'll be able to pry a bunch of bills from your wallet.

There is always going to be some part of you that would love to find an easier way. Who wouldn't love to sit on a couch eating their favorite fried food day-after-day and wake up one morning with a gorgeous bikini body? And as I've told you before: I'm not going to be the one to lie to you. I'm not going to tell you the things you want to hear. I'm only going to tell you the truth.

When you stay on target with the Dress Size Reduction Diet you are guaranteed to see incredible results delivered in a healthy way.

Don't let "them" trick you into thinking a box of cookies injected with Omega-3's is going to help you look great in a little black dress. Don't let "them" fool you into believing a magic pill is going to make your love handles disappear for good. Don't let "them" swindle you into buying another ab contraption that you think is going to produce a beach ready body in just 60 seconds a day.

Protect your mind.

The Dress Size Reduction Diet is designed to help you melt up to 15 pounds in 30 days. But the entire program is based on science. Not hype. And yes, there will be some effort on your part. Oh, and the emphasis of the program is on helping you MAINTAIN the healthy lifestyle changes you need to make to KEEP the pounds off - forever.

Don't let "them" lie to you anymore. Arm yourself with the truth. Protect your mind. Create a plan and stick to it.

I know you can do it.
